14 global tech giants adopt business pledge on 'responsible' development of AI


A consortium of South Korean and international tech companies has endorsed a joint commitment to ethically develop and utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle societal challenges. The Seoul AI Business Pledge, unveiled at the AI Global Forum in Seoul, was supported by 14 firms, including Samsung Electronics, Naver Corp., Kakao Corp., KT Corp., Google, OpenAI, and IBM. This initiative is a continuation of the previous year's global AI safety summit and aligns with the Seoul Declaration, emphasizing the responsible advancement, sustainability, and equitable benefits of AI. The companies recognize the rapid evolution of AI and its profound impact on the global community, pledging to adhere to the principles outlined in the Seoul Declaration. The declaration advocates for the promotion of safe, innovative, and inclusive AI to address the complexities and opportunities associated with this rapidly evolving technology. The AI Global Forum, attended by representatives from 19 countries, is currently underway, featuring discussions on strengthening AI safety with the participation of industry leaders such as Jason Kwon from OpenAI and Tom Lue from Google DeepMind.
