2 workers exposed to radiation at Samsung's chip plant in S. Korea


Samsung Electronics Co. reported that two employees at one of its chip manufacturing facilities in South Korea were recently exposed to radiation, prompting a government-led investigation. The incident occurred at Samsung's Giheung Campus in Yongin, 42 kilometers south of Seoul, where the workers experienced X-ray exposure on their hands on Monday. The company stated that the affected employees are currently undergoing follow-up tests and that Samsung is providing full support for their treatment and recovery. Additionally, the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has dispatched officials to the production line to investigate the cause of the incident. Samsung, the world's largest chipmaker, has pledged to cooperate fully with relevant authorities and take measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. The company operates five semiconductor facilities in South Korea and four manufacturing sites in the United States and China, with plans to build a new plant in Taylor, Texas, valued at approximately $40 billion.
