[Africa Forum] Korea, Africa could be next key players in supply chain: K-SURE chief


The head of Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, the state-run export credit agency, has pledged to assist Korea and African nations in establishing themselves as crucial components of the future supply chain. Jang Young-jin, the chairperson and president of K-SURE, emphasized Africa's abundant mineral resources, key to future high-tech industries, and highlighted K-SURE's commitment to fostering a forward-looking partnership between Korea and Africa. He expressed confidence in the potential for Korea and Africa to emerge as central pillars of the global economy by leveraging their respective strengths to overcome challenges. Jang underscored the growing spirit of cooperation between Korea and Africa and announced that Korea will host the Korea-Africa Summit 2024, marking the first time African leaders will be hosted in Korea. He also noted the substantial growth in trade volume and foreign direct investment between Korea and Africa. Additionally, Jang emphasized K-SURE's support for Africa's economic growth through infrastructure development and its commitment to collaborating with other export credit agencies and multilateral development banks with regional expertise.
