[AFRICA FORUM] The Korea Herald hopes to bridge Korea, Africa through news


Jung Won-joo, the chairman of Herald Media Group, expressed his commitment to fostering stronger connections between Korea and Africa at the Africa Day 2024 Korea Business Forum in Seoul. He emphasized the company's dedication to facilitating the exchange of news between Korea and Africa, highlighting their aspiration to enhance mutual understanding. Additionally, he expressed optimism about the potential for increased exchanges and cooperation, particularly with the upcoming Korea-Africa summit in June. Jung shared his personal affinity for Africa, citing his business's involvement in the continent for over four decades. He spoke about his involvement in Daewoo's entry into the Nigerian market in 1980 and their subsequent projects in countries like Libya, Algeria, and Morocco. He also emphasized the significant economic potential of Africa and the possibility for collaboration between South Korean businesses and the rapidly growing African economies to create new opportunities and a more prosperous future. Jung holds the position of vice chairman in Jungheung Group, which is the largest shareholder of Herald Media Group and Daewoo E&C.
