CJ Logistics extends distribution network for Korean sellers

South Korea's leading logistics firm, CJ Logistics, announced on Wednesday its new partnerships with major logistics companies in the United States and Japan to enhance the distribution network for Korean sellers operating internationally. This collaboration entails CJ Logistics managing air freight forwarding to Los Angeles International Airport and New York's JFK International Airport in the US, while local partners such as FedEx will handle final delivery services. Similarly, the top two local couriers in Japan have also secured contracts with CJ Logistics to manage the delivery of direct purchase products arriving at Tokyo's Narita International Airport. While CJ Logistics did not disclose the specific identities of its US and Japanese partners due to contract conditions, Jang Young-ho, head of CJ Logistics' International Freight Solutions Division, emphasized the strategic establishment of global networks to dominate the cross-border logistics market. In addition to these developments, CJ Logistics recently entered into a customs clearance and delivery service agreement with Ninja Van, a prominent logistics provider in Southeast Asia. With Ninja Van's expertise in customs clearance and delivery services across six countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand, the partnership aims to streamline the logistics process for Korean sellers venturing into the Southeast Asian market. This concerted effort in the US, Japan, and Southeast Asia is designed to enable Korean sellers to seamlessly navigate the entire logistics process through CJ Logistics, eliminating the need for separate providers for customs clearance and delivery and promising cost savings. The company foresees accelerated growth in the logistics business for K-pop merchandise, albums, K-beauty, and fashion items, citing last year's total value of online overseas direct sales at 1.6 trillion won, with significant contributions from the US, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries according to Statistics Korea.
