DP to propose cash handouts as 1st bill of new National Assembly

The Democratic Party's new floor leader, Rep. Park Chan-dae, announced plans to introduce a bill in the upcoming National Assembly session that would provide a cash handout of 250,000 won ($184) to the entire population. This proposal comes as part of the party's efforts to address the economic challenges faced by the public and was revealed following discussions between DP leader Lee Jae-myung and President Yoon Suk Yeol. The DP's victory in the recent parliamentary elections has positioned them to push forward with their legislative agenda, including resubmitting bills that were previously vetoed by President Yoon, such as those related to special investigations. Rep. Park Chan-dae, who is considered to be aligned with DP leader Lee, was elected as the party's new floor leader and is set to play a key role in advancing their legislative priorities. The new National Assembly session is scheduled to commence on May 30, marking the beginning of a significant period for the DP as they seek to enact their proposed measures and address the concerns of the public.
