DP urges Yoon to accept proposal on cash handouts, special counsel probe over Marine's death

During a meeting of the Democratic Party's supreme council at the National Assembly in Seoul, party leader Lee Jae-myung and floor leader Park Chan-dae conversed about the party's demands to President Yoon Suk Yeol. The party called for cash handouts to the entire population and a special counsel probe into a Marine's death, ahead of Yoon's scheduled press conference to mark the second anniversary of his presidency. Park Chan-dae, a representative of the Democratic Party, emphasized the significance of the recent parliamentary elections, where the ruling People Power Party suffered a significant defeat. He urged President Yoon to consider accepting the Democratic Party's proposal for cash handouts and to support the bill mandating a special counsel probe into the Marine's death, which the party had unilaterally passed last week. The Democratic Party's demands to President Yoon come in the wake of their significant victory in the parliamentary elections, and they hope that Yoon's press conference does not dismiss the public's verdict on the state of affairs over the past two years. The party is seeking Yoon's cooperation in addressing these key issues for the benefit of the population and to ensure transparency in the investigation into the Marine's death.
