Foreign ministers of South Korea, China to meet in Beijing

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul is set to visit Beijing on May 13-14 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The meeting, scheduled for May 13, will focus on discussing bilateral relations between South Korea and China, regional issues, and other mutual interests. Additionally, the ministers may also address the upcoming three-way summit involving South Korea, Japan, and China, including the agenda items for the summit. This upcoming meeting in Beijing will be the first in-person meeting between the foreign ministers of South Korea and China since the trilateral talks with Japan in November 2021. The last South Korean foreign minister to visit Beijing was Kang Kyung-wha in 2017 during the previous administration. Cho, who became foreign minister in January, is the second foreign minister under President Yoon Suk Yeol.
