Incheon Airport in final phase of expansion to be world's No. 3 in passenger capacity

The Incheon International Airport Corporation has announced the fourth-phase construction project at Terminal 2, aiming to accommodate up to 106 million passengers annually, positioning Incheon Airport among the world's top three in passenger capacity. The project, initiated in 2017, is in its final stage and is expected to begin operation by the end of this year, following a test operation starting in June. The project, spanning seven years, will significantly increase the airport's annual passenger capacity by approximately 37.6 percent and its cargo capacity by 1.3 million metric tons. The corporation has developed a four-step operational preparation plan and is focused on completing the project, with a comprehensive progress rate of 95.34 percent as of April. The expansion will establish Incheon International Airport as a leading hub in smart technology, cultural and artistic experiences, passenger friendliness, and sustainability. The president emphasized that this project marks the beginning of IIAC's expansion beyond Korea, with plans to build at least ten international airports globally by 2030. Additionally, the airport aims to offer world-class service and become the biggest hub airport in Asia, connecting technology, art, and people together.
