Korea’s EV investment in Georgia prompts more flights to Atlanta

South Korean companies' increased investment in Georgia has led to a rise in the number of flights and passengers traveling to Atlanta, the state's capital and most populous city. Delta Air Lines has witnessed a significant surge in business trips from Incheon to Atlanta, prompting the company to expand its flights between the two cities. The airline now operates two flights per day, seven days a week, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft capable of carrying up to 293 passengers, compared to just one daily flight in 2023. The influx of business travelers to Atlanta, particularly from South Korea, has been attributed to the recent investments made by Korean companies in Georgia. Delta Air Lines is also exploring the possibility of eliminating the need for baggage checks for passengers from Incheon International Airport when connecting to domestic flights in the US, aiming to facilitate business trips and travel within the country. This development comes in response to the growing demand for flights driven by Korean firms' substantial investments, such as the construction of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Bryan County, Georgia, which has significantly increased business trips from Incheon to Atlanta. Additionally, the upcoming battery plant projects by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution are expected to further boost outbound business trips to Georgia.
