Leaders of S. Korea, Angola agree to boost economic, trade cooperation


South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol hosted Angolan President Joao Lourenco during the latter's visit to Seoul. The two leaders focused on strengthening economic and trade ties, resulting in the signing of a strategic framework aimed at promoting trade and investment. The summit highlighted successful past collaborations, such as Korean companies securing deals in Angola's maritime and renewable energy sectors. President Yoon emphasized Korea's potential to contribute to Angola's economic growth by leveraging its technological expertise. In addition to the economic cooperation, the two countries signed agreements in various areas, including bilateral Trade and Investment Promotion Framework and collaboration in medical policies and law enforcement. President Lourenco's visit also included engagements such as a wreath-laying ceremony at the Seoul National Cemetery and meetings with South Korean officials and the Angolan community in Korea. This visit laid the groundwork for further collaboration and set the stage for the upcoming Korea-Africa Summit.
