Loyalist to DP leader Lee elected as party's new floor leader


Park Chan-dae, a Democratic Party lawmaker, was reelected for a third term and named the party's new floor leader at a general meeting of party lawmakers. He is closely aligned with Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung and is seen as establishing a "two-top system" with Chairman Lee to push ahead with reforms. Park, who was the sole candidate for the post, is the party's first floor leader under the current 22nd National Assembly. He previously served two terms as a lawmaker and is a member of the DP's Supreme Council, having first entered politics in 2014 after working as an accountant and graduating from Seoul's Inha University. The main opposition Democratic Party elected Park Chan-dae as its new floor leader, solidifying his close alignment with party leader Lee Jae-myung. Park, who was reelected for a third term in the general elections, aims to establish a "two-top system" with Chairman Lee to drive reforms. He was the sole candidate for the position and is the first floor leader of the party under the current 22nd National Assembly. Park, a graduate of Seoul's Inha University, transitioned to politics in 2014 after working as an accountant and won his first general elections in 2016.
