NewJeans drops new album amid Hybe-Ador dispute

Girl group NewJeans has debuted a new single amidst a conflict between their record label and its parent company. The single, titled "How Sweet," was released at 1 p.m. on Friday, marking the group's first release in 10 months. It features the title track "How Sweet," the pre-released track "Bubble Gum," and instrumental versions of both songs. The title track is described as a lively song with a Miami Bass influence, while "Bubble Gum" has a city pop vibe and a music video showcasing the members playing by the summer beach. In the midst of this release, NewJeans is also facing potential changes in their parent company, Ador, as an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders is scheduled for May 31. There is a possibility that CEO Min Hee-jin may be dismissed by the parent company, leading to petitions from NewJeans members, Ador employees, and the official fan club opposing her removal and calling for respect of the contract terms until a legal conclusion is reached. This adds a layer of uncertainty to the group's future activities.
