[Today’s K-pop] NCT127 drops single in Japan to mark anniversary


NCT127 marked their sixth anniversary in Japan by releasing their single "Colors" to the delight of their fans. The seven-member subunit showcased the R&B track during their "Neo City: Japan – The Link" dome tour in 2022, and the positive reception from fans prompted its official release. Having previously debuted in Japan with their EP "Chain" in May 2018, NCT127 has enjoyed success with their tours and album releases. As they prepare for their sixth studio album, the group's recent fifth LP "Fact Check" achieved significant sales and chart success, reflecting their strong presence in the music industry. Rising girl group Illit achieved a remarkable milestone by accumulating 200 million streams on Spotify with their debut song "Magnetic," setting a new record for a K-pop girl group's debut track. Their EP "Super Real Me" and its lead single have garnered widespread attention, with their debut single making notable appearances on global music charts and entering the Billboard Hot 100 and UK's Official Singles Top 100. This accomplishment was accompanied by the mini album's entry onto the Billboard 200, solidifying Illit's position as a promising newcomer in the K-pop scene. Additionally, it was revealed that Twice has surpassed 20 million album sales in both Korea and Japan, cementing their status as a highly successful and influential group in the industry. Since their debut in 2015, the nine-member group has released numerous albums, with their latest EP "With YOU-th" achieving a significant milestone by claiming the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Furthermore, Boynextdoor teased their debut single in Japan with a captivating video, providing a glimpse into their upcoming release titled "AND," which includes new Japanese tracks as well as Japanese-language versions of songs from their previous Korean albums. Notably, their second EP achieved impressive sales figures and topped Oricon's album rankings, indicating their growing popularity and potential for success in the Japanese music market.
