Yoon apologizes over first lady’s Dior bag scandal, but accuses special probe attempt as political maneuvering

President Yoon Suk Yeol issued an apology for the controversy surrounding his wife's alleged acceptance of a Dior bag as a gift. He expressed regret for causing concern and stated that the prosecutorial service was already investigating the matter. He dismissed calls for a special counsel investigation as a political maneuver and accepted the defeat of his party in the general election, acknowledging his administration's shortcomings in communicating and implementing policies. President Yoon also addressed military cooperation with Russia and emphasized the importance of economic cooperation while expressing disagreement on certain issues. Additionally, he announced plans to establish a new ministry focused on addressing the nation's declining birth rate, with the ministry's leader also serving as the deputy prime minister for social affairs. He called for active collaboration from the opposition-led National Assembly in amending the governmental organizational framework to facilitate the ministry's establishment.
