Yoon to resume diplomatic activity via 3-way summit with Japan, China

President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to engage in diplomatic activities as Seoul prepares to host a three-way summit with Japan and China. The summit, scheduled for Monday, will be preceded by bilateral talks between Yoon and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, as well as Yoon and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Sunday. This trilateral meeting will mark the first dialogue between the leaders of the three East Asian neighbors in over four years, with South Korea currently holding the rotating chair of the summit. The upcoming summit is anticipated to address various regional and global issues, including people-to-people exchanges, climate change, trade and economic cooperation, population aging, digital transformation, and disaster management. The discussions are expected to result in a joint statement, signifying a significant step towards restoring and normalizing trilateral cooperation among South Korea, Japan, and China. Additionally, President Yoon is also scheduled to meet with the President of the United Arab Emirates and host the Korea-Africa Summit in the coming weeks to further strengthen South Korea's strategic relations with other regions.
