G-Dragon appointed professor at KAIST


K-pop star G-Dragon, a member of the group Big Bang, was appointed as a visiting professor in the mechanical engineering department at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The appointment, announced at the Innovate Korea forum held at the KAIST campus in Daejeon, aims to integrate advanced science and technology from KAIST into Korean entertainment content, thereby enhancing the global competitiveness of Korean culture. G-Dragon expressed his honor at the appointment and highlighted the potential for collaboration between entertainment expertise and scientific knowledge. In his new role, G-Dragon will collaborate on research projects related to digital twin technology for Hallyu artists, the convergence of K-culture and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, robots, and the metaverse, as well as the development of artist avatars using state-of-the-art technologies. Additionally, he will deliver leadership lectures to undergraduate and graduate students, drawing on his experiences as a globally renowned artist to inspire and mentor the students. Furthermore, G-Dragon will serve as a global ambassador for KAIST to help promote the university internationally. Alongside these academic endeavors, he is also preparing for a comeback with a new solo album, set to be released in the second half of the year, marking his first solo album in approximately seven years.
