Global fans flock to Seoul to celebrate BTS anniversary

Despite the scorching heat on Thursday, the area around the Seoul Sports Complex in southern Seoul was filled with enthusiastic fans dressed in purple, coming together to celebrate the 11th anniversary of K-pop sensation BTS. The annual event, known as the 2024 Festa and organized by BTS' agency, BigHit Music, attracted a large and diverse crowd, with fans from various nationalities conversing in languages such as Korean, Japanese, English, and French. This year's celebration was particularly significant as it marked the return of Jin, the oldest member of BTS, who had just completed his mandatory military service, adding to the excitement of fans eagerly anticipating the group's full reunion in 2025 after all members have completed their military duties. In addition to the main festivities, the venue offered a range of engaging activities for fans, including a capsule toy machine dispensing BTS song lyrics, an upcycling booth using plastic bottle caps, and a space for fans to create and display diary entries. Merchandise stalls selling commemorative items and a giant electronic display featuring handwritten letters from BTS members currently serving in the military also drew large crowds. Fans expressed their excitement and dedication, with some taking time off work to attend the festival and eagerly participating in various events, such as a fan meeting with Jin and a raffle for a chance to receive a hug from him. Amid the celebrations, attendees shared their love and support for BTS, while also looking forward to the group's future endeavors and milestones.
