HD Hyundai marks Veterans Month with gravesite cleanups

Last Friday, a team of 140 HD Hyundai employees participated in cleaning and maintaining graves at Seoul National Cemetery and Yeongcheon National Cemetery in North Gyeongsang Province as part of their commemoration of Korean Patriots and Veterans Month in June. The volunteers paid their respects to individuals of national merit and then proceeded to weed, plant flowers, polish tombstones, and maintain flags at the cemeteries. HD Hyundai has been conducting annual cemetery cleanup activities since 2015, initially partnering with Seoul National Cemetery to honor fallen heroes and patriots. The company also facilitates employee donation campaigns for individuals of national merit, with a donation kiosk at their Global Research and Development Center in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province. In addition to these efforts, HD Hyundai has collaborated with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, investing approximately 400 million won ($290,000) in remodeling the homes of 10 families of Korean War veterans and the bereaved families of the Cheonan sinking heroes. The company also supports military welfare through various initiatives, such as establishing sisterhood ties with military units, donating construction equipment and vans, providing sports facilities, offering excavator maintenance training to help veterans find employment, and funding the Navy Scholarship Foundation through the "HD Hyundai 1% Nanum Foundation," which is supported by 1 percent of employees' salaries since 2020.
