Household loans from 5 major banks expand over W2.1tr as of mid-June

According to industry data, household loans offered by five major lenders in South Korea have increased by over 2.1 trillion won ($1.5 billion) this month. As of June 13, the outstanding household loans from these top lenders had reached 705.4 trillion won, compared to 703.2 trillion won at the end of the previous month. It is anticipated that the monthly total will continue to rise for the third consecutive month in June, following an increase of 5.2 trillion won in May and 4.4 trillion won in April. In Seoul, a man was observed passing by a sign advertising a bank's loan programs, indicating a potential correlation to the increase in household loans. This upward trend in loan extensions reflects a growing demand for financial assistance among households in South Korea, as the figures continue to climb over consecutive months.
