Hyundai Motor accelerates hydrogen drive

Hyundai Motor Company has recently acquired the domestic hydrogen fuel cell business from its affiliate and auto parts maker, Hyundai Mobis, in order to accelerate its technological innovation and product development. This acquisition, completed last month, has allowed Hyundai Motor to consolidate Mobis' hydrogen fuel cell facilities, assets, and personnel into a new process quality unit under its research and development division's hydrogen fuel cell development center, strengthening the company's organizational structure. The automaker has committed to enhancing the technological competitiveness of hydrogen fuel cells by leveraging the combined hydrogen team and improving production quality to establish a hydrogen ecosystem that extends beyond hydrogen-powered vehicles. Hyundai Motor plans to focus on increasing operational efficiency through a unified management system to offer hydrogen fuel cell products that are cost-competitive. Additionally, the company aims to advance the performance, durability, and production quality of its hydrogen fuel cell systems to contribute to the proliferation of hydrogen-powered vehicles on the road. Furthermore, Hyundai Motor intends to expand its hydrogen businesses into non-vehicle sectors such as power generation, tram, harbor, ship, and advanced air mobility, demonstrating its commitment to diversifying its hydrogen-related endeavors.
