KLCA supports listed firms to offer corporate information in English

The Korea Listed Companies Association has introduced guidelines for listed firms to provide their corporate information in English, aiming to improve accessibility for foreign investors. These guidelines include a standardized form for articles of incorporation, containing essential company details such as the corporation's purpose, share type and number, board election process, and more. While the association has been sharing the standard form for articles of incorporation since 1980, it has previously only provided examples in Korean. However, in response to the increasing foreign investments in the Korean market, the association has now released an English version of the standard form for the first time, with the expectation that local companies will find it convenient to attract global investments and comply with the corporate value-up program. The KLCA's standard articles of incorporation have undergone 23 revisions since 1980, with the latest reform in February 2023 focusing on the dividend payment procedure. This revision now requires firms to determine the size of dividends before setting their ex-dividend dates, allowing new investors to purchase shares while being informed about expected dividends. The KLCA, established in 1973 as a nonprofit organization, aims to safeguard the rights of listed companies and investors for the growth of the local capital market. With a total of 839 companies listed on the Kospi and 1,721 companies on the Kosdaq, the association's efforts to enhance availability for offshore investors align with the Korean government's corporate value-up program, which encourages listed companies to offer more corporate information in English to attract foreign investments. The English version of the standard articles of incorporation is accessible on the KLCA website at www.klca.or.kr.
