Korea-US-Japan trilateral economic consultative group launched

The business communities of Korea, the United States, and Japan came together in Washington, DC to establish a trilateral business dialogue, as announced by the Federation of Korean Industries. The inaugural Korea-US-Japan Business Dialogue was hosted by the FKI in collaboration with the US Chamber of Commerce and Japan Business Federation. This marked the first private consultation between the three countries, coinciding with the inaugural Korea-US-Japan Industry Ministers' Meeting in Washington on the same day. At the meeting, the three representative economic organizations from the three countries officially launched the private sector business dialogue and committed to holding regular future meetings. The trilateral business dialogue was celebrated by Korean Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, who emphasized the willingness to cooperate on developing trilateral industrial cooperation and joint responses to global risks. The meeting was attended by prominent companies from Korea, the US, and Japan, and culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the FKI, the US Chamber, and Keidanren. This MOU includes a commitment to promote trilateral cooperation in economic security and technology, building on the agreement reached at the trilateral summit between leaders of the three countries held at Camp David in August last year. The three countries pledged to hold the Korea-US-Japan Business Dialogue at least once a year, in conjunction with meetings of the three heads of state or governments, to further institutionalize trilateral cooperation in the industrial and economic sectors.
