LG Energy Solution and Analog Devices, Inc. have entered into a partnership to advance battery management technologies for electric vehicles. This collaboration involves ADI supplying high-performance battery management integrated circuits (BMIC) over the next two years, while both companies work on developing algorithms to accurately measure the internal temperatures of EV battery cells. Traditional battery management systems rely on external sensors to measure cell temperatures, which can lead to conservative safe charging temperatures and limit charging speeds. In contrast, ADI's Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technology can estimate internal cell temperatures accurately, enabling faster and safer charging. The partnership aims to leverage ADI's expertise in impedance measurement technology and LG Energy Solution's battery manufacturing and management knowledge to commercialize real-time impedance measurement for EV batteries. By combining their strengths, the two companies seek to enhance the Battery Management Total Solution and provide exceptional value to their customers. LG Energy Solution's vice president, Lee Dal-hoon, expressed confidence that working with ADI will significantly enhance their battery management systems and enable them to continue delivering outstanding value to their customers.
