Presidential couple's love for pets highlighted in central Asia tour

President Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon Hee were seen with dogs raised by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Kalibek Kuanyshbaev Kazakh Musical and Drama Theater in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. This event highlighted the couple's affection for pets, as they encountered three dogs during a special exhibition and stage performances. The South Korean presidential office did not provide further details about the dogs, but it was noted that President Tokayev often presents his Kazakh Tazy breed hunting dogs in meetings with important figures. The encounter in Kazakhstan followed a similar one in Turkmenistan, where the couple met Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov and his wife, who expressed their willingness to gift a Turkmen Alabay breed shepherd dog. President Yoon and first lady Kim are known to raise six dogs and five cats at their official residence. Additionally, the event in Astana featured a performance by artists from South Korea and Kazakhstan, including Korean jazz singer Nah Youn-sun and Kazakh opera singer Mayra Muhammad-kyzy, as well as an exhibition displaying Kazakhstan's "Golden Man" statue and a replica of a yurt, a portable dwelling for nomadic groups in Central Asia.
