Race begins for People Power Party leadership

The competition for the leadership of the conservative ruling party in the nation began with three prominent politicians announcing their candidacies. Former Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon, lawmaker Rep. Na Kyung-won, and former Land Minister Won Hee-ryong declared their intentions to run, following Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun's announcement on Friday. The race is expected to be a vigorous four-candidate battle leading up to the party convention on July 23. Han, currently seen as the front-runner, addressed criticisms surrounding his previous leadership role and expressed his determination to bring about change and reinvent the current administration. Meanwhile, Rep. Na emphasized her goal of bringing conservatives back into power and distanced herself from the pro-Yoon faction, highlighting her ability to work with the current administration. Won stressed his close relationship with the president and his intention to deliver the opinions of the ruling party and the public to the president honestly. The competition is heating up as the candidates vie for support, with a recent poll showing Han as the preferred choice among the ruling party's supporters.
