Research center for Israel studies opens in Seoul


The Israeli ambassador to South Korea, Amb. Akiva Tor, announced the opening of the Israel Education Research Center at Seoul National University, marking the first academic institution in South Korea dedicated to Israeli studies. In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, Tor emphasized the significance of this event as a positive beginning for the center. He highlighted the mutual interest between Israel and Korea in studying each other's culture and society, expressing hope that the center would eventually expand into a full department for Jewish studies at the university. The ceremony was also attended by Hwang Woo-yea, the interim chair of the South Korean ruling People Power Party, as well as members of the diplomatic community in Seoul, including ambassadors from several countries.
