S. Korea, Netherlands discuss supply chain management at 1st economic security talks

Kim Jin-dong, the director general for bilateral economic affairs at the South Korean foreign ministry, and Yvette van Eechoud, the deputy director general for foreign economic relations at the Dutch foreign ministry, were captured in a photo during their economic security discussions in The Hague. The talks marked the first bilateral economic security dialogue between South Korea and the Netherlands, focusing on addressing supply chain disruptions and exploring opportunities for collaboration in this domain. The dialogue, which occurred in The Hague, was led by Kim Jin-dong and Yvette van Eechoud, following an agreement between the two countries to establish a mechanism for discussing economic security-related issues during President Yoon Suk Yeol's state visit to the Netherlands in December last year. The discussions primarily revolved around strategies for effectively managing supply chain disruptions, with a particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation in areas such as semiconductors, research and development in core and new technologies, and fostering people-to-people exchanges. Additionally, both parties agreed to expand collaboration in sharing information related to export controls and investment screening processes.
