S. Korea's pharmaceutical, biotechnology exports spike 55 pct on-year in H1

According to data released on Saturday, South Korea saw a significant increase in the export of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. The country's exports in this sector amounted to 4.5 trillion won ($3.26 billion), marking a 55 percent surge from the 2.9 trillion won reported in the previous year. Despite a decrease in the number of export deals from 12 to 7, the association reported a substantial growth in the value of each deal. Notably, three deals signed in the current month exceeded 500 billion won, leading to expectations of reaching an annual total of 8 trillion won. An official from the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association highlighted the significant improvement in the competitiveness of the country's pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical technologies. This surge in exports indicates a positive trend for South Korea's standing in the global market for pharmaceutical and biotechnology products.
