Samsung steps up CXL development with Red Hat-certified infrastructure

Samsung Electronics, the leading producer of memory chips worldwide, has revealed the development of the industry's inaugural certified Compute Express Link (CXL) infrastructure. This achievement not only facilitates the verification of Samsung's own products but also contributes to the establishment of an open-source ecosystem. The certification, obtained from Red Hat, enables Samsung to directly validate CXL-related products and software at its Memory Research Center, thereby streamlining the process of product registration and accelerating product development. CXL, a cutting-edge interface that facilitates seamless connections between the central processing unit and memory chips, is poised to revolutionize data processing by addressing the escalating volume of data generated by artificial intelligence applications. Samsung's verified CXL products at its certified Memory Research Center are eligible for product registration with Red Hat, offering customers faster product development and tailored solutions. The collaboration between Samsung and Red Hat aims to introduce new technology standards and expand the CXL memory ecosystem, positioning Samsung as a leader in the emerging CXL sector. Samsung's pioneering efforts in the CXL sector, including the introduction of the industry's first 128-gigabyte DRAM supporting CXL 2.0 and the development of software solutions for CXL memory, underscore its commitment to driving innovation in memory solutions and the CXL ecosystem. The global CXL market is projected to experience rapid growth, with CXL DRAM expected to capture a significant share, reflecting the increasing demand for high-performance computing technologies. Samsung's involvement as a founding member of the CXL consortium further underscores its dedication to fostering an open ecosystem for data center accelerators.
