Shinhan Card partners with Canada's Alberta to boost tourism

South Korean credit card issuer Shinhan Card has teamed up with regional Canadian governments and state-run tourism promotion agencies to promote local tourism, beginning with Alberta. The card arm of Korean finance giant Shinhan Financial Group has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with the Government of Alberta, Canada, to jointly create services and launch marketing campaigns aimed at tourists visiting the province. The signing ceremony, which took place at the Shinhan Card headquarters in Seoul, was attended by Shinhan Card CEO Moon Dong-kwon, Alberta Minister of Tourism and Sport Joseph Schow, Destination Canada CEO David Goldstein, and Destination Canada's Korea Office Director Anna Lee. Alberta, located in western Canada, is renowned for its Rocky Mountains and natural attractions like Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and Lake Louise. With the introduction of a new direct route between Incheon and Calgary by WestJet Airlines, an increase in Korean tourists visiting the province is expected. By leveraging the customer bases and expertise of both organizations, Shinhan Card and the Alberta government plan to collaborate with local businesses to develop comprehensive services in tourism, shopping, dining, and other travel-related sectors. Additionally, Shinhan Card aims to expand its partnership with Destination Canada to other provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec, in the future.
