[Test Drive] New Mini Countryman not so mini anymore

The new Mini Countryman, launched by BMW Group Korea, represents a larger, more digitalized version of the popular compact car brand. The third-generation model, unveiled in Seoul, boasts a significantly increased size and a revamped headlamp design, marking a departure from its traditional "mini" image. With dimensions of 4,445mm in length, 1,845mm in width, and 1,660mm in height, the latest Countryman aims to expand Mini's presence in the automotive market, as emphasized by Jung Soo-won, head of Mini Korea. The interior of the new Mini Countryman offers enhanced spaciousness, with ample legroom and headroom in the rear seats, and a generous 1,530 liters of loading space in the trunk when the rear seats are folded. The dashboard features a pioneering 240mm circular organic light-emitting display developed by Samsung Display, along with a minimalistic control interface comprising only 10 buttons and knobs. The driving experience of the Mini Countryman S ALL 4, with a maximum horsepower of 204 and a fuel efficiency of 10.8 km per liter, is likened to that of a sports car, combining agility and performance. Mini Korea also plans to introduce new all-electric models and a gasoline model in the local market later this year.
