Yoon meets 10 African leaders ahead of Korea-Africa Summit


President Yoon Suk Yeol met with leaders from 10 African nations ahead of the first Korea-Africa Summit to discuss expanding cooperation. The leaders were in South Korea for the upcoming summit, which will include delegations from 48 African countries. Yoon also had separate meetings with leaders from Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, who were on state visits to South Korea. During the meetings, Yoon emphasized South Korea's longstanding commitment to enhancing exchanges and cooperation with Africa and expressed hope that the upcoming summit would strengthen collaboration in areas such as energy, infrastructure, critical minerals, and agriculture. The African leaders expressed their desire to learn from South Korea's economic development experience and to expand cooperation in various areas, including development projects. Following the meetings, Yoon hosted a welcoming dinner for delegations from the participating countries. The main session of the summit will take place at the Kintex in Ilsan, north of Seoul, on the first day, followed by a business summit in Seoul on the second day.
