Yoon visits site of battery plant fire that killed at least 22


President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the location of a battery plant fire in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, which resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 22 individuals. He took immediate action by instructing government officials to develop strategies to avoid similar incidents in the future. President Yoon's decision to conduct an emergency inspection at the Aricell lithium battery plant was prompted by a briefing from Interior Minister Lee Sang-min. Additionally, he directed the minister and firefighting authorities to utilize all available resources in the search and rescue efforts for survivors. While being briefed on the incident by the fire authorities in Gyeonggi Province, President Yoon urged a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. He emphasized the challenge of extinguishing fires caused by batteries or chemical substances and stressed the importance of developing comprehensive measures with experts to combat such fires effectively. Furthermore, President Yoon instructed Minister Lee to carry out safety assessments at chemical plants and devise preventive measures to avert similar accidents. During his visit to the fire site, he met with firefighters and emphasized the significance of their safety during their duties, expressing condolences to the victims and their families.
