[Bills in Focus] Non-regular workers' rights, semiconductor growth support

Proposed by Reps. Lee Yong-woo, Shin Chang-sik, and Yoon Jong-o, the Partial Amendment to the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act aims to extend the protection of labor rights to non-regular workers, including specially employed and platform workers. It also seeks to prevent employers from seeking damages from individual workers involved in collective action while allowing employers to exempt labor unions from liability for damages caused by industrial actions, thereby fostering peaceful settlements in labor-management disputes. Additionally, the Special Act on Strengthening the Competitiveness of the Semiconductor Industry, proposed by Rep. Koh Dong-jin, focuses on enhancing Korea's global standing in the semiconductor field through the implementation of supportive measures. These measures include an expedited authorization system for developing electric and hydroelectric infrastructure, with the overall goal of generating substantial production and job creation, while also boosting sales for partner companies to contribute to the industry's growth.
