In the first half of 2024, Korean cosmetics exports reached a new high, exceeding $4.8 billion, marking an 18.1 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. This achievement surpasses the previous record set in the first half of 2021, with cosmetics imports totaling $850 million, resulting in a trade surplus of $3.97 billion, highlighting the strong performance of the cosmetics sector. The volume of cosmetics exports in the first half of 2024 is 6.1 times larger than in the first half of 2014, demonstrating the substantial growth of the industry. Moreover, Korean cosmetics were exported to 195 countries last year, indicating the widespread global appeal of Korean beauty trends.
