[Herald Interview] From busker to Coachella star, The Rose blooms

The Rose, a four-member band from Korea, made history by becoming the first Korean indie band to perform at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States. In an interview with The Korea Herald, Park Dojoon, the guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist of The Rose, shared the band's journey from humble beginnings as buskers to international success. Despite their initial focus on the Korean music scene, The Rose gained unexpected popularity abroad, leading to tours in Europe, the US, and South America. Their experiences as buskers and their quick rise to international acclaim have shaped their perspective on performing, with Park likening their Coachella appearance to a grand busking performance. The band's rapid global recognition has led to them being perceived as a foreign band by Korean audiences, despite their Korean roots. However, Park emphasized that they simply see themselves as four Koreans making music with global appeal, transcending labels and genres. Despite occasional disagreements among the members due to their diverse musical talents, the band's strong teamwork has propelled them forward. Looking ahead, Park expressed aspirations to support aspiring musicians and help create a more conducive environment for music. He also shared the band's confidence in achieving their long-term goal of winning a Grammy and continuing to be loved both internationally and in Korea. Overall, The Rose's journey from busking in the streets to performing on global stages like Coachella reflects their determination to create music that resonates with audiences worldwide, while also maintaining a strong connection to their Korean roots.
