[Herald Interview] Russian K-pop soloist Lana returns with first English single

Lana, a Russian K-pop singer with no Korean heritage, marked her 5th debut anniversary this year with a new single titled "Circus," which delves into the hidden loneliness behind the glamorous facade of a pop star's life. In an interview with The Korea Herald, Lana, fluent in Korean, expressed that the song also signifies her first English track and aims to connect with a broader audience. Despite no initial connection to Korea or K-pop, Lana's fascination with Korean drama sparked her interest in the country, leading her to eventually move to Korea at 17 to pursue her dreams after persuasive planning with her parents. After moving to Korea, Lana tackled the challenges of living in a foreign country with a different language, including the emotional toll of being away from her family and friends. However, she remained steadfast in her determination to fulfill her promise to her parents and pursue her aspirations. Despite originally aiming to debut in a K-pop girl group, Lana ultimately chose the path of a soloist and kept her decision a secret until right before her debut, eventually winning her parents' support. Looking ahead, Lana expressed her aspirations to continue her music career, hold concerts, and explore diverse genres and styles in her future releases, while expressing gratitude to her fans for their support over the past five years.
