[Herald Review] Noel Gallagher rocks Korean music fans across generations

British rock icon Noel Gallagher, a prominent figure in the band Oasis, delighted fans in Korea with his second concert in the country within eight months. The event, held at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, drew a crowd of approximately 18,000, comprising both long-time admirers of Oasis from the 90s and a younger audience in their teens and twenties. South Korean band Silica Gel had the honor of opening the concert, with vocalist Kim Han-joo expressing excitement at the opportunity to perform for his lifelong idol. Following the breakup of Oasis in 2009, Gallagher has been leading the High Flying Birds. The concert showcased a mix of tracks from High Flying Birds and classic Oasis hits, with the 57-year-old rock star delivering a non-stop performance of 16 songs, accompanied by a brass band. Despite occasional coughing between songs, Gallagher's charismatic stage presence remained strong throughout the nearly two-hour show. The encore featured iconic Oasis songs, culminating in a peak of audience participation during "Don't Look Back In Anger." Gallagher will be taking a break from touring due to health reasons after completing his world tour through August.
