JYP to establish Latin America subsidiary, create global girl group

JYP Entertainment has revealed plans to expand its presence in Latin America by establishing a local subsidiary and launching an audition program called "L2K" to create a new Latin girl group. This move marks the company's first significant venture into the Latin American music market. The subsidiary is set to be launched in the current quarter, with the aim of broadening the tour regions for its artists, exploring new business opportunities, and establishing stronger connections with local fans. Additionally, JYP Entertainment is collaborating with Universal Music Latino, a part of Universal Music Group, in the "L2K" project to introduce a Latin girl group based on the K-pop system. In a similar vein, JYP Entertainment also launched "A2K," an audition program in partnership with Republic Records, a prominent label under Universal, to create a K-pop-based North American girl group. The program, which featured JYP head producer Park Jin-young as a judge, commenced with auditions in several cities in North America and culminated in a boot camp in Los Angeles, followed by the final stages in Korea. The success of the program led to the debut of Vcha, a six-member girl group consisting of Lexi, Camila, Kendall, Savanna, KG, and Kaylee. The show garnered significant viewership, with approximately 65.75 million cumulative views and an average of 2.98 million views per episode.
