Korea Post President Cho Hae-keun and CEOs of international postal service groups recently participated in the Kahala Posts Group CEO meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, with the aim of enhancing collaboration to revitalize international postal services. The Kahala Posts Group, an alliance of leading postal services from the Asia-Pacific region, was established in 2002 and has since expanded to include European countries, totaling 10 member nations. During the meeting, President Cho and other post group CEOs discussed strategies to improve the quality and volume of international postal services, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mail volume. The volume of international express mail service among Kahala Posts Group member nations has declined since the onset of the pandemic, prompting the CEOs to agree on measures to address these challenges. This includes plans to resume the EMS delivery guarantee service among member countries by the end of the year and exploring new services that utilize commercial channels for customs clearance. President Cho emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration with international postal services to develop new solutions in response to the decrease in international mail volume and pledged to continue strengthening domestic postal services through cooperation with the Kahala Posts Group.
