LG Electronics sets up HVAC tech lab in Frankfurt

LG Electronics has announced the opening of a new research lab in Frankfurt, Germany, aimed at advancing its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technologies for the European market. Covering approximately 1,000 square meters, this facility is the third of its kind, with existing branches in Changwon, Korea, and Atlanta, the US. The lab's primary focus is on developing high-quality HVAC technologies tailored to the specific climate and market needs in Europe, targeting residential, commercial, and industrial applications. In addition to serving as a key base for the European HVAC market, LG Electronics plans to recruit local talent in fields such as heat pump technology and smart home solutions. The lab will also oversee the company's European Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research, a program launched to achieve advanced heating performance. This move aligns with LG Electronics' strategy to address the increasing demand for energy-efficient appliances in Europe, driven by the rise of carbon neutrality policies in the region. Lee Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics' air solution business division, emphasized the company's commitment to expanding its presence in the HVAC market globally, with a focus on providing tailored solutions to regional climates. LG Electronics has been actively investing in research and development to advance its heat exchanger, inverter, and heat pump technologies, utilizing in-house developed compressors and motors for its HVAC products.
