Samsung unveils slimmer AI-powered foldable phones

Samsung Electronics introduced its new, sleeker and lighter foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, at a major launch event held at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The company is capitalizing on the excitement surrounding the Olympics in the French capital, with around 1,000 journalists and industry professionals from across the globe in attendance. Samsung's mobile chief, Roh Tae-moon, emphasized the advanced performance and refinement of the upcoming devices, highlighting the incorporation of Galaxy AI and an optimized foldable form factor to provide users with new possibilities. The new foldable phones will feature enhanced AI capabilities, including improved document translation and summary functions, as well as a new Live Translate feature compatible with popular social media apps. Additionally, the devices will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips, offering enhanced AI processing and graphics performance. Despite their slimmed-down design, Samsung has reinforced the structure and design of the phones to resist external impacts and reduce screen wrinkling. The Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 are set to be released in Korea on July 24, with preorders starting soon, and will be available in a range of color options. In addition to the new phones, Samsung also unveiled a new health wearable device called the Galaxy Ring, which provides various health metrics without any separate subscription fees. Users can monitor their sleep latency, heart rate, respiratory rate, and daily life cycles, with all health information easily accessible through the Samsung Health app. The Galaxy Ring is priced at 499,400 won.
