[Today’s K-pop] BTS’ Jimin crowns band with iTunes record

Jimin of BTS has achieved a major feat with his solo track "Filter," topping the iTunes Top Songs chart in all 119 regions. This track is part of the group's fourth studio album "Map of the Soul: 7," released in February 2020. This achievement makes BTS the first group to accomplish such widespread chart domination. Jimin has also seen success with three other solo tracks, including "Like Crazy," which debuted at the top of Billboard's Hot 100, marking a significant milestone for a K-pop artist. His most recent solo release, "Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco)," has also performed well on the iTunes chart, foreshadowing the upcoming release of his second solo EP "Muse." Meanwhile, Ateez has announced the upcoming release of a summer-themed photo book, accompanied by a trailer video showcasing the group's members in an analog ambiance. In addition, the band has kicked off the American leg of its tour, "Towards the Light: Will to Power," with a performance at Tacoma Dome. Their tenth EP "Golden Hour: Part 1" has also made headlines by climbing to No. 75 on the Billboard 200, demonstrating the group's enduring popularity. (G)I-dle's seventh mini album "I Sway" has sold over 1 million copies in its first week, marking the group's third consecutive million-seller. This follows the success of their previous releases, including their sixth EP "I Feel" and the LP "Two." The new album has also topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 18 regions and the main track "Klaxon" reached No. 16 on Melon's Top 100. The group is set to showcase merchandise inspired by the lead single at a pop-up store in Seoul, with plans to expand to Shanghai and Tokyo. Additionally, (G)I-dle will embark on their third international tour, starting with a two-day concert in Seoul and spanning 13 cities across the globe. Lastly, two former members of Kep1er, Kang Yeseo and Mashiro, are set to debut again as part of a new girl group called Madein, scheduled to launch in September. The group was formed after their participation in the survival audition show "Girls Planet 999: Girls Saga," and they will be joining their original agency 143 Entertainment for this new venture.
