[Today’s K-pop] BTS’ Jin to carry torch for Paris Olympics: report


Jin of BTS has been selected as one of the torchbearers for the 2024 Paris Olympics, joining over 11,000 individuals who will carry the flame across France for 11 weeks leading up to the opening ceremony on July 26. Jin, who recently completed his military service, is also working on his first solo album and is set to make guest appearances on various TV shows, including the reality show "I'm Glad You Got a Good Rest." Meanwhile, Lisa of Blackpink achieved a record-breaking No. 8 position on Spotify's Top Songs Global chart with her solo single "Rockstar," surpassing her previous hits "Lalisa" and "Money." The music video for "Rockstar" has garnered over 61 million views and topped YouTube's music videos trending worldwide chart. In addition to her music success, Lisa is set to appear in the third season of HBO's "The White Lotus," filmed in Thailand. Furthermore, a documentary film about the K-pop industry, focusing on the dynamics between Seventeen and their fans, is scheduled to air this week. Titled "Magic Hour, The Seventeen," the documentary follows the 13-member group's journey in building their music catalog and growing fanbase over the past nine years. Additionally, boy band Epex will hold its first standalone fan concert in Macao on August 17, following their upcoming performances in Seoul and a planned tour across Asia to celebrate their three-year debut anniversary.
