President Yoon also expressed the intention to increase the state's cash allowance for incoming North Korean defectors and expand child care services for female defectors. President Yoon emphasized the importance of stable employment in helping North Korean defectors reach their full potential and vowed to prevent their repatriation to North Korea. These commitments follow his proposal earlier in the year to designate July 14 as North Korean Defectors' Day, in commemoration of the implementation of the North Korean Defectors Protection And Settlement Support Act.
