AmCham seminar offers insight on US work visa


The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea held a seminar at the IFC Forum in Seoul, focused on providing a detailed understanding of the US work visa process. The event emphasized essential information about US work visas, such as visa categories, specific requirements, and permitted business activities. Experts from various fields offered insights on challenges faced by applicants and discussed current investment issues, particularly in light of significant Korean investments in the US in strategic industries like semiconductors, EV batteries, and renewable energy. AmCham Chairman and CEO James Kim highlighted the importance of supporting Korean investments in the US and emphasized the seminar's value in helping Korean companies and their employees effectively navigate the visa process. Meanwhile, US Embassy minister counselor Andrew Gately emphasized Korea's role as a trusted supply chain partner for the US and stressed the importance of proper visa deployments for the success of Korean investments in the US. Keynote speaker US attorney Jung Man-suk emphasized the significance of addressing visa issues as the first crucial step in establishing a US presence. The seminar also included insights from various speakers on the current landscape of Korean investments in the US and discussed Texas's rise as a major investment hub, with the announcement of AmCham's annual Doing Business in the US seminar in October.
