Nokia denies report about mobile unit sales talks with Samsung

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, there were reports of Nokia being in discussions with potential buyers, including Samsung Electronics, for the sale of its mobile network business. However, Nokia has officially refuted these claims, stating that it has no insider project related to the speculations. The company emphasized its commitment to the success of its mobile networks business and highlighted the progress it has made in terms of cost reduction, product development, and customer acquisition. Bloomberg had reported that Nokia was exploring options for its mobile networks business, including divestment or a potential sale valued at around $10 billion, with Samsung showing initial interest in acquiring some of Nokia's assets. However, there is no guarantee that a deal will take place, and a Samsung official declined to comment on the report. Meanwhile, anticipation is growing for potential merger and acquisition deals from Samsung, following its relatively low-profile approach since acquiring Harman in 2017. Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee hinted at an upcoming announcement during a shareholders' meeting in March.
