NSC discusses ways to beef up cybersecurity for defense contractors


The Presidential National Security Council convened a meeting at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul to address concerns about cyber attacks targeting defense contractors. Led by Shin Yong-seok, the presidential secretary for cybersecurity, the meeting included officials from various agencies such as the state-run arms procurement agency, the spy agency, the police, and the Defense Counterintelligence Command. The focus was on discussing measures to enhance cybersecurity for small and medium-sized defense contractors, including expanding intelligence sharing and providing support for technology protection. Shin emphasized the importance of protecting key defense technologies for national security and called for close cooperation between relevant agencies to address security vulnerabilities. The meeting aimed to address recent reports of alleged hacking attempts on local defense companies and to strategize ways to bolster cybersecurity in the defense sector.
