Incheon International Airport Corporation organized a special event on Friday to mark the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel for commercial use at its second passenger terminal. The event, which saw the participation of government officials, aviation leaders, and oil refinery representatives, was spearheaded by the Trade Ministry and Transport Ministry. Lee Hag-jae, the president and CEO of the corporation, emphasized its dedication to showcasing ecological leadership in the global aviation sector with this new initiative. The first commercial usage of sustainable aviation fuel in South Korea is showcased on Korean Air's Incheon-Haneda flight to Japan, where fuel containing one percent sustainable aviation fuel, certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization, is utilized once per week. The corporation's research into sustainable aviation fuel commenced in 2022, and it has conducted six test projects for cargo planes at its airports since September last year. Incheon International Airport Corporation has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 and has formulated a roadmap to emerge as a premier hub for the environmentally friendly aviation industry.
